"AMBASSADORS"

Every Freemason in the world is an ambassador for Freemasonry.

Every ACGL Freemason is certainly an ambassador for Freemasonry in the country and the communities where he resides.

Every one of us is what the world at large, the propane know and understand and believe about Freemasonry.

Each one of us is Freemasonry!

This is certainly a most important truth for us to know and serves as a constant reminder of how important our every action and every word are.
Every action and each word that comes from us and every action and word that we condone are quickly perceived by the propane as being what Freemasonry is. In fact these are understood and thereby accepted by the propane as being what Freemasonry is.

This must cause us to place a guard at the door of our thoughts and our deeds. It is said, "by their deeds you will know them." By what other means can a proper evaluation, judgement, be made of those whom we are associated with? Only by their deeds because often their words are not consistent with their actions.

This is not to say that we can not have fun. I view Freemasonry from two dimensions. Making a good man better and the fun side.

We are simply stating the part of our basic Landmarks. Let me explain my view on this. We require that every petitioner express a belief in "A Supreme Being" and "In the Immortality of the Soul." We require these for reasons that are explained in our ritual, or the reasons are alluded to. The belief in God that 'no Obligation would be considered as binding.' The Immortality of the Soul is not as well or as clearly explained, but it is a vital part of and reason for our continued progress of 'becoming a better man.' Herein lies the essence of what I am stating. We are not perfect and we do not expect to reach perfection, however we have promised to continue to strive towards perfection. This is because we believe in The Immortality of the Soul. Lessing's Masonic Colloquies stressed deeds, being very friendly, charitable, obedient, patriotic, honest and faithful. Brother Otto Caspari (Heidelberg) references these in his writings as far back as 1909.

We progress by being the best we can. We progress by learning from our mistakes and guarding against repeating them. We learn by sharing with each other. We learn by being a part of the communities, by sharing our valuable resources and time for the betterment of others.

I look forward to being among each of you. When traveling to our ACGL lodges and other lodges, when here at the ACGL Communications and other events with Freemasons it is you that I enjoy. You are a great group of men, and as Brother John J. Robinson stated in his presentation to the Grand Lodge of Missouri in 1992, you are a great deal better than you think you are.
